Overview
Why are we helping you track detention time?
When you're stuck for an extended period at a pickup or delivery and not logging miles, you want to be compensated for that lost time. Detention Logging in Pulse creates a record that you can share with your carrier to demonstrate how long you were detained at each stop so they can potentially negotiate with the customer and pay you for this time.
Using the Tool
Accessing Detention in Pulse
In the Driver Pulse app, there is a Detention icon on the main screen. This tool holds all logged Detention records, or you can add a new manual record. If you don't already allow Pulse to use your device's location, then you can activate that here.
Tenstreet Recorded Log
When you have allowed Pulse to use your location, it will recognize when you are at a TruckMap-known dock. Once you have been there for 30 minutes, Pulse will trigger Detention Logging to start. First you will get a message from the Driver Pulse Team asking if you want us to keep track of your detention time and if you respond yes, that will create a record in the Detention Log page. That record will show that the event is currently in progress.
Alternatively, if you miss the message but you want to pull those logs in the next day, you can still answer 'Yes' and the logs will immediately be created in your Detention Log page. These messages do not expire so you can retroactively log any detention records.
The only field a Pulse user is able to edit on a "Tenstreet Recorded" log is the load number.
Sharing a Detention Record
Once the record is complete, you can share it to any contact - someone in your phone's contacts or another Pulse contact.
Here is a copy of the message that is sent with the Detention record:
Creating a Manual Log
If you need to create a manual log, click on Add Detention Event within the Detention tool. Add the information and Save. You can share these records the same way as described above, but these records will not have the "Tenstreet Recorded" stamp on the log.
Manage Notifications
When inside the Detention tool, click on the gear in the top right corner to see this screen and choose how often you want to be notified about detention logs - immediate, daily, or never.
